I don't think dictionary editing or creation should be politically biased, but people have been griping about Merriam-Webster's dictionaries since Webster's Third came out in 1961. Thankfully the blue haired white woman who have an axe to grind and are getting hired at places like Dictionary.com and MW can't get in a time machine and edit physical copies of older dictionaries, which we still all have access to. Also, the usefulness of MW pales in comparison to the usefulness of Wiktionary and the OED.

If any of you guys are interested in a fairly casual and entertaining account of the inner workings of MW, check out the book "Word by Word" by Kory Stamper, who was an employee at Merriam-Webster from about 2000-2015. Stamper is a liberal—one of the incidents she discusses in the book is the backlash regarding the definition of "nude" as in make-up or underwear tint being defined as "white" or "pale"—but she is not overbearingly so.
