actually is a very good novel though with a lot of literary merit. It’s a novel so it is technically fiction and it’s literally precisely what you asked for since you didn’t demand science fiction.
He describes the Babi Yar massacre for instance and spends pages talking about the different attitudes of each of the murderers and describes the behaviors of the Ukranians from the beginning, at the point where they realize they’re being murdered and at the end.
I doubt there’s any work of fiction that does genocide as well as this, it’s exactly what you asked for except for not being literally licensed by Disney
