Depends on the security rate. Lower ones don't allow prisoners much free time in the cells - they have to do work every day.

High security ones keep prisoners in the cells most of the time, but those are also turbo anal about regulations to make your life hell - it's the ones where the guards slam your face into the concrete, cuff you and throw you into a 48 hours solitary box with no belongings for having an extra wrinkle on your pillow. Or for lying down wrong. Or for shitting outside the designated shitting time.

There is a lot of gay sex in prisons, but it's mostly between the basically-animals with a coom dependency that would humble even the most shameless internet weeb, and the bitch bottoms who are straight up willing.

Violent rape is more of a gang business, where a gang member may get raped by his superior for fucking up big time, or one gang rapes a member of another gang to flex on them. Just grabbing a random dude and raping him for no reason is a big nono in most prisons in the world, and a guy who does that would typically get punished both by the admin (and nobody would consider that snatching) and the internal prison hierarchy.

>Torture seems so unnecessary and pointless.
The point of labor exploitation in low security prisons and constant regiment fuckery in high security ones is not in inflicting suffering per se (and not in making money of slave labor for low secs, tho it is a factor) - the point is leaving inmates no free time to get bored in.

When they have an abundance of time and boredom they start getting up to shit to keep themselves occupied, be it drug smuggling, gambling, gang activities, buggery, escape attempts, fighting, rioting, etc. The optimal most manageable inmate is the one that is too tired to wish anything other than getting some sleep in peace 24/7 through his entire time on the inside. That's also why the prison admin is inherently at odds with inmate hierarchy that tends to offload all the labor duties on the low-status prisoners: while losers are painting walls and gathering trash, the bored gangstas get to playing craps, making shanks out of toothbrushes, and stabbing each other with toothbrush shanks over cheating in craps.

The pointless suck activities for grunts in any military serve the same purpose - the servicemen must never be idle or well-rested, or they'll be getting into trouble.

Did the fact that going to American prison is synonymous with getting gay raped not tip you off to what the intent is? They could fix endemic gay rape, but it's a feature and encouraged, not a bug.

How do you think America virtually eliminated jury trials and why 99+% of charges end in pleas? Do you really think the cops get the right person 99% of the time?

No. They overcharge you and tell you that you can either plea and give them a bunch of money, or risk going to jail if you go to trial, which is an implicit rape threat, although the cops might make it explicit by threatening rape in the pre-trial jail if you fail to plea. America massively under funds its justice system so they judges are livid if small crimes are brought to trial with a jury, so you will face an angry judge and uphill battle and rape for asking for your right to a jury. Hence no one does it except for people facing very serious penalties either way.

You will be disappointed to find out that the police genuinely believe you're the criminal and that their threats are just a way of coercing you into telling the truth, similar to how a parent might threaten a beating when a child doesn't own up to stealing the cookies. If the cookies were stolen by the sister? Well, too bad because the parent will never know that, but they want to ensure justice so you're getting a beating.

The fact is, the police are not trying to be evil. They're also underfunded (relative to the extreme level of crime) and swamped with work.

Personally, if I were to design a prison, I would have provided Internets, at least.

A prisoner is effectively a movement-restricted brain. Allowing one to sap into, say, libgen - would have been an overall cultural boon. They'd simply have nothing better to do, but to self-educate and start writing scientific articles.

Forcing instead the primate to just spit in the ceiling 24/7, is a severe underutilization of neural network computational power.

As an anecdote, I was heavily threatened by police for just walking late at night because they suspected that I committed a crime. They insinuated I'd be going to jail shortly, personally threatened and insulted me, all of that stuff, but luckily my body language was autistic and shy, and when they performed the background check and saw I had a mental health history, their whole body language changed; they offered to give me a ride to a gas station or home, apologized, told me how dangerous it is at night, even asked if I needed any help, etc.

The police are stretched thiiiiiiin, underfunded, undertrained, and stressed out by criminals constantly lying. It's not great at all, but to a european or a bourgeois faggot living in a low crime area, it looks senseless. Unfortunately, police are just responding ton a senseless situation. I'd much rather be treated poorly by police than robbed and killed by a criminal because an officer was too afraid of being meanie-head.

I don't think the police are evil (in general, some might be). I think they are often indifferent/numb to the risks of punishing innocent people though.

Most people brought in are guilty. But that's not really the point. The point is that overcharging and DA leverage has essentially stripped the right to a jury away from people.

That the choice is often between significant time in prison and "pay us lots of money and do parole," is obviously open to huge levels of abuse. People don't need to be evil to give in to a system of perverse incentives.

Look at what Cato did on civil asset forfeiture. Because police were given the legal right to seize cash from people with impunity and then pay themselves with it they began seizing way more cash, without any clear links to illicit activity, in what in some cases amounted to simple robbery.

Nah, I worked managed a police department. If they are stretched thin it is because their $110,000 average take home pay, continually inflated by their contact, is sucking the money out of the budget.

You want GPS to make sure they actually do their patrols. Fuck you, not in the union contract. Pay me 8% more and we'll talk.

Body came. Fuck you, pay me 9% more and maybe we will talk.

I had over 10% of my force under indictment at one point, almost all DUIs and domestic abuse. It is extremely difficult to fire cops. We fired some for a bar room brawl where 8 of them jumped two guys, and where one pulled out his service weapon, and they all got their jobs back with back pay.

Some states aren't nearly as bad about this but many are. They act with impunity because their unions are ridiculously overpowered. Imagine an army where a president says "do this" and the soldiers say "fuck you, talk to my union boss, I'm not doing shit." They is what mayors and sheriffs deal with. The elected official has to deal with a parallel chain of command who only looks out for the police.

There are plenty of good police but the system is not fucked solely due to lack of money. The unions allow for the corrosion of all discipline and an environment of impunity. Public sector unions shouldn't even exist, especially paramilitary ones.

Yeah that's reasonable, I just think that in the USA the social climate is so bad that there's little choice besides letting horrific criminals and cartel members run loose. I grew up in high crime areas and currently live in one. The last shooting happened *yesterday* in my street (although no one was harmed). The police didn't arrest anyone because there were no criminals and no one snitched. About 5 months ago, a woman was shot in the head randomly at her child's birthday party by a cartel member, and the police couldn't do anything AGAIN because no one snitched (and who would put themselves on a hitlist). There is an OBVIOUS suspect here; there is a heavily tatted hispanic family with expensive cars that receives a few visitors from random vehicles almost every night, and I know that the police suspect him on all sorts of things, but they can't do anything because no one snitches.

I don't snitch either, because I'll get brutalized and probably my family too. This is in the USA. Rich leftists in their privileged college towns, and europeans don't know just how bad it actually is.

I would rather the police more aggressive and deal with this shit already than to keep tiptoeing around faggy leftist laws.

There was a recent drive to get a "community representative" police force (what a fucking disaster that would be) but luckily it hasn't resulted in demographic change for out police. And I'm not white, so don't think this is based on racism.
But yeah, in more leftist states like California there are a lot of gangs in the police. Read a story about a major bust of an entire police department where it was completely over run by cartel members somewhere in the southwest.

Latin America has lower crime rates than the US though, with a couple.exceptions like Brazil. Mexico city feels safer and cleaner than any large American city right now.

Even if the police are ostensibly a gang, at least they're a gang with a paper trail and some level of public oversight. The biggest problem with cops is that they aren't enough like a gang, and aren't willing to dish out violence, intimidation, torture, etc. on a level that any gang member would actually be afraid of. The state today treats criminals with silk gloves, while going up against people that make ISIS look sympathetic.

If justice was truly fair they would take this factor into consideration, because sending an autist to a general population prison is equivalent to sending a gang member to the gas chamber.
