What books do you recommend to help me decide once and for all that God exists or not, or to at least decide on a religion? I was just going to read Mere Christianity and then the God Delusion.

Terrible choices OP. Both of those are meme books written by people who are neither philosophers or theologians.

The coherence of theism - swineburn
The miracle of theism - JL Mackie

These books will give you a fairly comprehensive list and discussion of all the non historical arguments for God both for and against.

Christ's sake. If you can't intuit God's existence through introspection, at least read Symbols of Transformation by Jung

Fear and Trembling and The Gay Science would both be good counterpoises to legitimate theology or atheist deductions. Both of these works examine a side of belief or unbelief that have more to do with faith or autonomy and other deep seated human dispositions than with logical arguments for or against god's existence, all of which in my opinion only lead one to agnosticism if they are closely examined.

I haven't read any theological books fully, but I've heard Summa Contra Gentiles is held up as the best argument for Christian doctrine, at least by catholic. I was impressed by the sections of Guide to the Perplexed by Maimonides that I read for a class once. Spinoza's Ethics also argues for the existence of god, but a totally different god than most theists. As for atheists, Hume's Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion is considered the best subtly atheist work by students of philosophy.

As a Lewis fanboy... Mere Christianity isn't what you're looking for. Summa contra Gentiles works well from Aristotelian metaphysics, or Feser (see >>10811293) for a defense of said framework.
For atheists... I found Ivan Karamazov and Aquinas' objections to his own articles more convincing than God Delusion. Dawkins almost seems more likely to convert people to Christianity, making his points that badly.

Read Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and realize that you can't 100% prove one or the other. Figure out which one it is you already believe.
