How did Christianity get away with creating such a shallow mary sue?

He was based on a person from a supposedly true account, McCarthy didn’t just make him up. That being said, it seems likely the original memoir was greatly sensationalized and McCarthy just seized on it as an example of
>bruh human nature be fucked up n sheit *hits blunt*

What do I know though, I haven’t read the book. AtPH was ok, he just comes across as a shallow edgy pseud who writes some nice prose.

The Judge is based on a person some people involved with the real Glanton Gang attest to having been there. McCarthy uses that extremely loose source as a basis for creating a supernatural manifestation of man's warlike, imperialist nature in one entity.

The judge is a nigger. He's a big black gorilla nigger, and based on the real life story of a black gorilla nigger wandering in a gang of negroids.

A character being powerful, talented, and competent, even extraordinarily so, isn't a problem.

The problem, beyond the story being flat-out uninteresting, is when the story itself undermines the idea that such a character could possibly exist. The Sequel Trilogy does this with Rey. She spends her whole life growing up with no friends nor family; she has no skills, education, nor training of any kind; she has no meaningful possessions, and is deliberately underfed; yet every time she tries something, she not only manages it on the first try, but does so better than anyone else has ever done before, often by a lot.

It's far worse than if she'd just shown up into the story as an equally powerful, competent, and talented figure -- who's also totally healthy, physically attractive, and morally incorruptable -- with no backstory. The backstory she's been given totally undermines the idea that she'd be capable of anything she's shown to be doing in the story.

James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, and Walter White are also powerful, competent, and talented to massive extents. But their backstories don't undermine the idea that men like them could exist, and the characters are given consistently interesting things to do.

What, you want a day-by-day biography for a Satan-insert in a fictional story? What kind of books are you reading? If a man writes a letter, do you expect to have explained to you how he mastered his fine motor skills or something?
