>we totally killed 3/4 of Persian nobility but the Greeks they were at war with didn't even notice in their histories of Persia at the time
Jews were making up fake genocides stories even in the second century BC. Curious how it's never this piece of biblical literature whose fictional character gets emphasized.
Makes you think.

>it's all retellings of Esther or the Greeks seething
>no sympathetic perspective of Samaritans
>no sympathetic perspective of Persians

Wasn't it earlier?

The events are supposed to happen in the Vth century BC. The book itself is of uncertain date. The fact that 1 Macchabaen refer to the "day of Mordecai" instead of purim is suspicious, and that's the oldest mention. Purim is mentioned as the new feast in the Greek translation made in mid second century BC, and the story was unknown in the diaspora of the time, or at least its link to purim (but there is no other reason for the narrative).
Though in the case it's earlier, it would only make the history of fake genocides go up by a couple more centuries.

Esther 2:15 - Now when the time came for Esther to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the harem, suggested.

Esther 4:14 - For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the royal position for such a time as this.

Esther 6:13 - Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall has begun, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him - you will surely come to ruin!

Esther 7:3 - If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life - this is my petition, and the life of my people - this is my request.
