How to check if your story has plotholes or not

Logically consistent

Or just being sensible enough

Maybe if it is 6 digit

>> No.21054039

>>21054016
easy. get someone to ruthlessly demand answers about your story.

>>21054039
....that s not always an option isnt it
Except if you have an editor or something

>> No.21054088

>>21054071
If you can't persuade a single person to read your story, why would you care if it has plot holes you can't see?

>> No.21054118

>>21054088
No as in you cant always have anyone to fiercely 24 7 your story
For free. Like you are some disney exec or million dollar priority.

That or convince me otherwise.

Friends?

>> No.21054142

>>21054122
So you enslave friends to fiercely comment on things they dont even care? As in... well i never thought of it. Especially considering the commercial sense of it... it seems like professionality is needed more than familiarity.

What s other, more serious, commercial option supposedly? Something for you to individually assure first i guess so to make enough bar of being "not horribly unreadable"
Or whatever general things they do in the industry

Like the other anon said, if you can't find anyone to even engage with your story, then there are more pressing issues than plot holes. Also asking your friends to help you out for an afternoon is not some kind of gulag sentence; stop being so obnoxiously hyperbolic. You explain your story to someone, and they ask questions.
>"So there's this guy, and he decides to kill the king"
>"How come he wants to kill the king?"
>"Because the king killed his family!"
>"Why did the king kill his family?"
etc, etc, blah blah blah. You can even play x-box while you do it.

That looks so... unprofessional. Is it how this is done in the publishing room?
Well im not gonna be going thru the whole text fron the beginning of "so there is this thing"
But it ll be more of "since this happens what should happen" kind of question...
Like matching logics, critical detail kind of material. Is it not done with more... structure? A procedure?

>> No.21054241

>>21054231
If you aren't at the stage of asking friends and family to take a look, don't worry about what happens with professionals.
Once you've got it to the stage where people who like you think it's good, try to join a workshop or something

So?

>> No.21054308

How can you know if it s good before you even finish it. This is the production stage... so critical details are to be fixed before you know it is "good".
>>21054269
Well is it reliable? Your friend isnt exactly hot material nor is there ever no million dollar flops. As in... just the general theory man. I m not the best reader so i m asking.

>> No.21054325

>>21054016
Just learn how to string together propositions and inferences using modal logic or whatever. I'm sure there's a possible worlds logic theory you can run your narrative over

Jesus anon.

You don't and you never will. Do it as well as you can. This isn't a video game. There is no end scene. You don't get a badge.
Henry James has one his greatest short stories on this theme, where an aging writer, on the point of dying, finally begins to feel that he might have mastered it

...yeah this looks fancy but i ve nwver done nor hear abt it myself. Any example?

You need to be more specific
It s not just abt fixing typos and grammars

read a lot then you get better at critiquing shit. if you have no one to proofread your shit then find someone online.

>>21054142
just because your friends don't give a shit about your creative endeavors doesn't mean it's the same for other people.

you're trying to find plotholes, not getting it ready for print.

Eh well exactly. I mean. I dont give a shit abt them as much either. Haha
So basically where s this other people
>>21054441
Yeah one is easier than another so how come it s not something i can do myself but only "getafriend". Like A. A person.
How am i so untrained to this other person

what the fuck is wrong with you. why are you writing like this?
>How am i so untrained to this other person
a different person has a different perspective, it has nothing to do with training

>> No.21056283

>>21056256
Hmmmm. So i t s not logic nor training? Like in commercial sense you just need to be blatantly rude to even be moderately sensible????
