The similarit3s between white noises plot and the irl airborne toxic event going on rn are uncanny. And the timing with the movie is too coincidental. The movie sucks balls BTW. What the hell has Delillo gotten involved in? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU ONOW DELILLO

I was thinking the same thing. Very uncanny the shots of the pileup look so similar to that in the movie.
The movie really was ass, actually unwatchable, I stopped about halfway through it.

Predictive programming? How would having a movie about an event benefit the response to an actual event? I've never understood this. Is it just feeding a script to NPCs to follow when it does occur?

>> No.21663565

>>21663541
Its a cope if its not really how things are (which it isn't and nihilists deserve the rope). Its a sure fire way of convincing ones self that striving for anything better is useless. So in a world where there are worthwhile things having a barrier to entry of being a but challenging you could use it as a cope for why you are avoiding challenging yourself. The only reason Im not playing his game of "name one thing worth while hur dur" is because he is in the cope. Of course he isn't going to agree with anything I say because he is living in the fiction that is predicated on me being wrong.

What do you even say to this? Everything is bound to happen eventually. There is no end goal to making so-called "predictive programming" without making "them" seem like the fucking Riddler. You'll find that the only predictive quality in good fiction is the author's ability to see far enough ahead to predict the outcomes of a society's poor choices. I would advise you to not be paranoid, but you can never tell a paranoid person that they're crazy without making yourself blind and ignorant in their eyes.

Wow, the book takes place in a midwestern city along a major railroad, and they filmed scenes in a midwestern city along a major railroad? What are the odds? Clearly, a conspiracy must be the most plausible explanation here. And the victims of the disaster played extras in the movie, you say? Isn't it crazy that people who lived in East Palestine were victims of a disaster that happened in East Palestine?

What, do you think that they fly extras all the way to set from across the country? No, they find them on location, you idiot. That's how it's been done since forever. Don't be deceived by an explanation that presents itself as esoteric. It falls apart the moment you start analyzing it.

Sounds to me like he doesn't seem to see much meaning in life if survival has no value but I suppose he could be a pessimist and view things as negatively valuable. But in that he would have to view everything as negatively valuable if there isn't one thing that is worth doing. Which seems incoherent since that would mean that his own view point would be negatively valuable so why would he post it. I'm sorry I assumed he had the more coherent (although still wrong) cope.
