From what I've read, Niji originally had a real management team in charge of EN. They may not have been particularly good, but they seemed to carry out their most basic job duties at the very least.

Eventually, this management team quit to start their own NFT company (which failed). The old management team leaving is when things seemed to begin to go really bad; they were replaced with part timers (who never seemed to do any actual work) and high school kids. If you buy into the Gurrat like I do, this is when Elira began taking control of the EN branch due to the lack of management. EN became "Lord of the Flies."

As a general rule of thumb, when there is a power vacuum that is just "naturally filled" like this, you do not get the best and most competent people taking over. Instead you get the most aggressive, most power-hungry, and most forceful person; and usually these are bad people.

Riku's plan was always to use Nijisanji as a "pump & dump" scheme to get rich quick. His "business plan" seems to have been to run the company on a shoestring budget, hire the cheapest staff possible (meaning high school interns), vacuum up every single dollar possible, sell his stock and then presumably live a life of idle luxury.

He wasn't smart enough to realize he'd struck gold with Nijisanji and not smart enough to realize that if he invested some time, money, and effort into the company and hired competent people he could have made even more money. Instead it seems like he focused on schemes to juice the stock price to a certain target and then sell the company.

This has led to yab after yab and dragged the stock inexorably down. Had he had anything even resembling a brain, he should have sold after Luxiem took off and collected his winnings.
